30 March 2006So then Donny brings up this thing about how many mountains there are and maybe one of those mountains is running for mayor. Well, he doesn’t have as much money as Mayor Mike Bloomberg and doesn’t have the muscle that former mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani has (not direct quotes), but he is somewhere in the middle. He thinks that education is incredibly important but his platform and his MOST important issue is security and keeping people safe.
I got up to the microphone and asked him what the “next big thing” is. What should the people in the room look out for being a group on salespeople and entrepreneurs. He thought it was a good question (so did I) and it made him think. I think his message was you gotta think about the next generation. Think about kids today. The 12 year olds and tweens have the answers. Follow them and they will tell you what’s going on. Funny thing is that I tell that to all of my clients. Don’t just sell to your customers today. Market to the future and have some ideas about what buyers and consumers will want tomorrow. And then take that a few steps further with next year, in 5 years and 10 years.
